Marscon ^^
I havent been up dateing my journal much cause ive kind of been loseing intrest in it and my familes internet has been pretty unreliable. but i suppose its nice to breath life into it from time to time. So right now im sitting in a little hotel room in Willimsberg Virgina awaiting mars con, I signed up with my friend to be part of the volenteer staff cause well, why not. We arived here around 2:00 on wensday from his house in northern maryland, id stayed the previous night there cause his father was going to drive us down here, and i couldnt of been more grateful concidering how little i enjoy driveing long distances.
When we arive i got aquainted with our other roomie a fellow named donald really nice guy, that night we taked for hours about pretty much everytopic under the sun and yes we did talk about furry cause he knoticed my tail and i mentioned FWA to him at some point, he thinks were mostly coon but there are a few he would love to hit over the head with a chair lol.
We all unpacked and showed off our costumes. The theam od the particular convention is steampunk and sat around and played cards, watched some TV and waited around for the cons chairman to arive so we could help him out with various tasks, mostly moving things to various rooms around the hotel. As was today. There were some issues as there typicaly are when such events as a SciFi con take place, the main stage room wasnt set up at all how the con chair wanted it to, the staff seemed to have something aginst the idea of a bunch of people congragating in there hotel to celibrate a common intrest(im kidding about this of course). Though it wasnt as bad as it could of been. The first thing we did today was run inot town looking for candies that one may of found in a victorian tea party as was one of the activites we had planed. A rule about me and candie stores and this should go with out saying but neither my friend or our room mate knew this so i cant blame them...never..ever...should you let me into a candy store unless you have a couple of hours to kill while i wander around in a dream like daze woundering how much of everything i want lol, indeed it was a tad difficult to not walk out of there with a few duffle bags worth of sweet ^^. I did get a few things for my self though, a couple of tasty truffels and a few raw cinnimon sticks to chew on ^^.
After the candy store we venturd to Donalds house to pick up a few things for his costume and what not. than it was back to the con to help set up. Setting up mostly consisted of unloading boxes from other peoples cars and takeing them to various rooms within the hotel, moveing things from one room to another, setting up the projectors in the film rooms, makeing sure the art room was set up right. than me and the chair went out and got food for everone. Later we all retired to our rooms. Tomorrow is the actul start of the convention and im rather excited about it actully, this is my first convention as i also mentioned previously. So im hopeing i have a blast, and im quiet sure i will ^^.

oh live journal, its been a while
Its been a while since ive been keeping this thing, but i think ill start trying to keep it agian. Ive been doign pretty good over the past few months, getting my self through school and work, trying to improve my social life (or lack there of). Summer went well did alot of fishing in the chesepeak bay with my dad, A few weeks back i had lunch at an indian resturant with my buddy matt, he has trouble pronouncing forgin names so he refured to all the food by its color and texture it was pretty funny Matt: hey dude you gotta try the green on this bread stuff ME: nah cant be as good as the red bro lol. good times then we went to his house got drunk and jammed for a few hours.
As of late though school has been my master, particularly my intermediat algebra class. Algebra isnt my strongest subject so i spend alot of y time studying and practicing, alot of work but it will be worth it to get my math classes out of the way. I took pre algebra over the summer failed, took my placement test agian, scored better than i did the first time got into intermediat. i call that win. well i guess thats it for now, ill probly think of something else to post later.

And judging from the single Running Free it seems like its going to be pretty good, basicly just like the last album but a bit more refined. Plan on seeing a review for it here when i get to it.

Busy weekend/s
Ok so maby i do have intrestring stuff to share, Im still going to do album reviews "and there is not a thing you can do to stop me bwhahaha". last friday I worked sound for the first time in a long time almost a year actully. Anyway it was an intrestring experiance, moslty cause i didnt ask off of work for the whole day just that night, so i got to the practice space a bit late, normaly this wouldnt of been a big deal, but i was tired and not thinking. This lead to us ariveing at the gig with thta strange felling of "did we forget something", we did. We didnt have the drum mic, now this actully was no big deal to me or Mr.Steve (the other sound guy and kind of a local legand in the Batimore County music world). The drummer (who is also my Uncle lol) wasnt really happy about this dispite Mr. steve informing him that micing him was pointless. basicly the room we were playing in was really really small, it was a biker bar lol a dirty smokey creep filled biker bar (i saw a dude in there who had a gun in his front pocket yea his pocket not a holster like a normal gun carrying citizien would think to use HIS FREAKING POCKET lol). on top if that we didnt really have time to run a good sound check, It was basicly a cluster fuk. Oddly enough the gig went really well, the audiance said every thing sounded great (i had to put a vocal mic in the kick drum to satisfy my uncles kick drum lust lol) and there set was pretty awsome. Though it would of been alot better if i got a chance to play, maby next time :)

Last week ws mostly work. Though i did go and get my school books. About 400$ in total, good thing im putting in so many work hours. But im glad i got them now so i can look though them befor classes actully start. Im pretty hope full about next semester, the classes are really early in the morning but i think i can manage them. gonna need some really strong coffee. I also hope to make a freind or two in my classes, provided im not to tired to be social.

Finaly on sunday my parents and I went to IKEA to look for furniture and shelving for my room. basicly my room is really clutred cause im a pack rat and my old shelvs and desk just dont really help me organize everything and still be able to find things. also i really need a better way to store my CDs the box im useing now just aint working.

oh and some furry news, I think ive found a pretty permant Fursona for myself. Im a Freking Chimera of a dog, otter, squirrle, and a snow lepoard. Ok not exactly an origianl combination or idea but I like it and it works. Basicly i decided that id combine a few creatures that reflect my rather odd personality best and make it into my something awsome. now i just have to draw it and come up with a cool name.

ok im going to start useing my live journal for album reviews cause lest face it, do you really care about whats going on in my life. or do you want to know how awsome the new album from say *insert cool artists here* ill still maby post about major stuff but that dosnt happen often enough to me.

Any way for my first review im going with 13th step by A Perfect Circle, The other band of Maynard James Keenan from Tool. why, well for starters Its a pretty good album musicialy and the production is pretty cool. Secound its one of thoes albums that you can really connect to, IE it is basicly a musical interpratation of a 12 step program and a persons journey though it. but it the idea can be applied to anything i suppose. also it happens to be in my CD player at the moment.

Lets take a look at the Tracks. These are my interpritations by the way, i encourage you to find your own,

The Package- Ok for starters, I love the Bass on this song, its pretty much just a burst of **bwoomm* *bwoomm* almost like a synth bass actully, just dont turn your bass up on your . and it fits the rest of the music really well. Now on to the lryics. also the intro to this track is lovley. this song is basicly discribing the addiction and what the person will do in order to quench it. (i hope that made sence) lieing, stealing, killing to get what they are after basicly.

Weak and Powerless- the first single on the album, although the song heard on the radio is an alternate version of it the album version is more subdued. Im not really sure what to make of this track actully, But based on the idea its probly the victum accepting they have a problem and that they need help. "so despret, so weak and powerless over you". As for the music, Its a rather up beat track, mostly played on acoustic and clean electric guitar and a slightly fuzzy bass tone. It really has alot of emotion in it though, but it dont really build to anything to special. still a good track.

The Noose- Ahh my third favroit track on the album and probly my secound fav from the band. Its the song that made me really get into ambient music to, cause that what it is for the most part. it starts out slow a single piano note and a really pretty string pad rises. things just kind of keep slowly building to a really emotional track. You kind of have to listen to it particurly on a good pair of head phones to get its full effect. The lryics are just as haunting in fact. Its bsicly about recovery and the repercussions of it, he victum has found a way over his addiction but he has suddenly gotten a bit full of themself and forgoten about thoes that they may of hurt in the past with there addiction. Its actully kind of a mean song but it really drives a good point. it ends pretty nicely to.

Blue - My secound favroit track on this album is Blue. Its seems like this song is from the perspective of a friend or loved one of the victum, who refuses to accept whats happening to the victume. The chours goes "call it after math she is truning blue, such a lovley color for you... while i just sit and stare at you" also another lryic "ignore the smoke and smile" seems to be the person just accepting the victums addiction. I gotta say the playing on this track is pretty good mostly layerd slide guitar with delay over it. It ends with some pretty cool ambience that takes you into the next track.

Vanish- The lryics are most likely about the victume trying to escape there problem, i havent really been able to inturpret them proprely. This is a pretty intrestring track as its mostley instrumental with Maynard occasionaly referign to escapeing in some form. As frat as the musician ship its actully a pretty simple song but it creats a rather calming atmousphere.

A Stranger- another song that i havent inturpreted though the lryics are pretty vauge, it is basicly another ambient track though not like the noose. It futures a simple acoustic guitar arppegio with various other instruments comeing in and out at times mostly strings, lovley track to listen to at night actully. there are some really neat percussive sounds in the back to.

The Outsider- The second single on the album, and a bit on an Anti-Emo anthum. The lryics are from the perspective of well an outsider, possibly a friend or loved one reacting the the victum becomeing suicidel and a bit self centered. The music on tis track really fits the lryics, probly the heaviest track on the album. A nice break down in the middle helps calm things down the it breaks into more heavyness. The end of the track is almost like a sonic smack in the face to.

Crimes- a filler track consisting of Maynard counting up and the band jamming in the background after a while the music fades out a bit and you can kind of make out people talking. Its apparently the band jokeing around in the studio its really hard to make out what there saying. noting special just a filler to keep thing intrestring i guess.

The Nurse Who Loved me- First off this is a cover of a song by a group called Failure, check them out. another nice pretty track, instead of the more guitar oriented rock of the origianl this is an orchestral song no rock instrumesnt here, and its actully a good song. Its lryics are about basicly the victum useing a person they love to satisfy there addiction.

Pet- Ok so i said The Outsider was the heavyiest track on the album. I lied, Pet doesnt even give you a nice clean tone intro. It starts with a nice crunchy *bwomp* to get things rolling. it goes into a soft part while Maynard sings the verse. The lryics to this song have well many meenings. They seem kind of like they could actully be refering to the goverment and basicly the war, and they could but keeping in them with addiction it probly a song from the perspective of the victume trying to fight there addiction. Basicly telling it to shut up and go to sleep. although it could be from the view of the drug telling the victum that its ok its going to protect them. Very open to personal interpritation ( I personal think its about people trying to hide them selves from knowing about all the bad things in the world but thats me). This track ties with the last for my favroit actully. the playing on this track is really powerfull, and it has a great solo in it from guitarist billy howerdell.

Lullaby- another filler track centred around a woman singing in a really strange voice and a really bassy drum loop. There is actully some nice guitar playing in the background that follows the voice. a pretty strange track but most filler is.

Gravity- My favroit song on the album. It starts out with a really simple riff and just kind of grows. Unlike Weak and Powerless this track tries to build and it does. I especialy like the bass line in this song its not *bwomy* and its a really catchy riff. The lryics are basicly about giveing in, but not in the bad way. The victum relise the only way out of there addiction is either life or death. They chose to live... they chose to live. This track also fetures the line "tail in hand" which as a furry i find kind of funny. i dont know why i just do.

Althogher 13th step is a wounder full album. Its not the epitmie of rock albums by a long shot, but its deffinitly something to add to your collection if you need something that sounds a bit diffrent, cause this album really does just something to it that sets it apart.

Band
Vocals- Maynard James Keenan
Lead guitar,Vocals- Billy Howerdel
Josh Freese- Drums
Jordy White- Bass
Guitar on The Package, Vanishing, and Gravity- Troy Van leween
Guitar on The Noose- Danny Lohner

personal rating 4/5

So what do you guys think should i keep doing them? critques, crtisums, whitty remarks?

Well i didnt go to AC but i did have a great weekend. Friday was boring. saturday wasn't though. I had a nice guitar lesson. Reviwed key signiture with my teacher so im ready for my 9:00am music classes next semester. Went to a family party later that night which was intrestring, My uncle Vic brought a deep fryer with him and made deepfired pickles and onions(pretty good actully)and talked to us about his rodeo injuries. Played a rousing game of flash light tag with my cousions.
On sunday my good friend bob came back into town for a visit. Which was great cause i havent seen him in since highschool. We meet up at hunt valley mall and saw Trancformers which was awsome. I think it was one of the best action movies ive seen in a while. the special FX were simply amzing, the acting was great, and Megatron was awsome looking. Actully all the robots were very well done, it was definitly a movie that benifited from CGI. This is comeing from someone who doest really watch alot of movies or TV for that matter so yea. Anyway i had a good weekend and Next week is looking pretty good to cause ill be in Ocean City.

Some Drama and a intersting question
So tomarrow i'm starting a summer photography course. And im both excited and nervious. Excited cause i really think im going to enjoy takeing this class as it will help me develop my skills and give me somthing to do over the summer.
But at the same time in farily nevrious about it, The reason is im a fairly shy person and id really like to makea few friends at the college i go to, Im worried that ill sit in class the whole time and not talk to anyone, except for maby a hello here and there. I know it sounds kind of silly and that the solution is easier than it sounds.
Im just nervious about actully getting over my shy ness... Oh well there is a lab part so im sure that i will get an oppertunity to interact with the other students. Im complaining about this because i've really been letting my shyness get the best of me, yea its ok to be quiet and keep to your self some times but other times its can come off as rude. Pluse ive taken 4 other courses there and in non of them did i make any effort towards makeing any friends in thoese classes which is quite a shame.

On a not so whine note, Im listening to the song Satellite Amthem Icaurus by Boards of Canada (one of my favroit groups Btw) and just kind of relaxing and i start to reminisce about my childhood and one image that keeps comeing to mind is fishing with my dad and grandpa at a lake, which is probly one of my earliest memories and the only ones i have of my grandfather. And it just seems to fit so well. Though its probly cause the song sounds like something you would hear in a video for a resort out in the woods that would have decent fishing (lest to me it does). In fact most of Boards works seem to fit well with various childhood memories. And im woundering does anyone else have song that triggers a memory which seems to just well, fit the music? i know its an odd question but im an odd person.

Graffiti for the ears
Well graffiti is no longer a visual art form any more. Apparently a couple of artists with lots of spare time, Magnetic tape, And DIY tape decks are makeing some noise literaly on city streets. It called Audio Bombing and it seems kind of cool in a pretentious artsy kind of way.

Here is a Link to The CDM artical(a really cool Blog by the way that I highy recomend if your into electronic music). http://createdigitalmusic.com/2007/06/04/musical-audio-graffiti-mobile-music-and-crackleboxes/

and another one http://www.we-make-money-not-art.com/archives/009513.php

humm maby I should get in on the act. Audio Bombing at a Con anyone( JK id probly get kicked out)

Trippyness for breakfast, and a new starcraft
I had an intersting dream last night. it involved teddy bears and a flameing pound cake.
i was in my house playing with some really cool synthesiers (one happened to be a red korg OASYS, another one was this weird looking alesis thing) when my mom came into the room telling me that i had to protect the house. I looked out side to see an army or green amd orange teddy bears comeing towards the house. My first though, set fire to the pound cake on the table and throw it at them, and it worked for the most part. im porbly leaving a few parts out like the giant Vase/guitar i was tryng to fix at one point but thats ok.

In other news ive been informed that Starfcraft II is comeing out soon, personaly i cant wait. I absolutly loved the original game and this one looks even better, especially the new protos stuff.

umm got anything they dosent smash my balls
I was in Hot topic to day looking for some new pants, and almost every thing i tryed on was really tight especially in the croch region. Who decided this was cool, pants so tight that when you put them on your voice rises a few octaves,. I meen yea tight slacks are sexy and all, but it just seems so uncomfortable to me. Eh maby im just to picky about what i wear. I could aways make my own cloths though, that would be kind of cool.
